The Perfect Hair was founded and developed by local entrepreneur Taryn Gill, who is well-known and respected in the natural hair community.
“So, ever since I can remember, I have had a large fro of brown, curly, coily hair, and yes I have the pics to prove it. I was inspired from a young age by my mum (aka StyleGuru) who had the most memorable, large, bright red afro of shiny curls,” says Taryn.
Taryn’s knowledge gleaned from years of selling imported hair care brands. She has always been driven by African conscious consumers wanting to find natural or vegan beauty alternatives, and this led to the development of her own range on a shoestring budget.
Lots of research took place when putting together the ultimate natural hair products for the everyday African woman. Together with trichologists, Taryn and her team identified nine different African hair textures and found the perfect essential oils and methods needed to create the perfect product for the perfect hair.

Nilotiqa was founded by Thokozile Mangwiro, a young entrepreneur with an impressive résumé. Equipped with a Master’s Degree in Information and Communications Technology and eight years’ experience working in the intelligence sector, Thokozile was inspired by a life-long, un-answered frustration: She could not find a range of organic hair care products to maintain her natural hair.
