When our favourite domestic T20 Challenge cricket players aren’t on the field, they’re likely enjoying the beach, visiting their favourite coffee shop, or taking a well-deserved break from the demands of on-field play.
Being an athlete involves immense physical demands that often push sportsmen to their limits, which is why prioritising mental health and wellness has become essential in the high-pressure world of sports. Just as physical training is crucial for performance, dedicating time to self-care is vital for maintaining emotional well-being.
By recognising the importance of putting themselves first, they can recharge and cultivate a healthy mindset. This not only enhances their performance on the field but also fosters resilience in everyday life. Embracing self-care, whether through relaxation, hobbies, or spending time in nature, allows individuals to restore balance and thrive both personally and professionally. We sat down with Mihlali Mpongwana and got the low down.
What essential items do you always pack for trips?
MM: My cologne, toiletries and my headphones. Those are the most important things to me. I
like music and I like to smell good.
3 weeks at the beach or 3 weeks on safari?
MM: Safari! I love animals and you always get nice sunsets when on Safari. I absolutely love the Kruger National Park.
Living in the beautiful city of Cape Town, with its breathtaking beaches, majestic mountains, and unforgettable sunsets, greatly influences Mihlali’s travel preferences. Surrounded by nature’s best, he’s drawn to destinations that offer both adventure and serenity, much like the city he calls home.
